It was the Spring of 2008 when we learned that Patric would no longer add to our gallery of his art, Pat had passed and the finality is still felt. We met Patic at our beginning as Flexible Flyers Rafting in the summer of 1983. We had set up in the rubble of the old Feed Mill on the same location as where the Doubletree is now, it was an abandoned property at the Crossroads of US160 and 550, the perfect location for our new enterprise and also a good spot for the Earth -Travelors to find a place to spend the night. Patric emerged with his drawing pad and showed us some of his work that we have used through the years to explain what we do visually, it now graces our brochures and many shirts and last year we printed grocery bags with his art, one year we made a calender, each of the months a scene of his interpretation of a Flexible Flyers Year in Review. Patic loved to visit and he drew many pictures of our lives, all better than any camera could do. He said he drew for Mad Magazine and was in the Graphics Department for Disney, Robin and I last saw him walking on the Animas River Path. We miss him and hope that that talent he so willingly shared with us is still in the air. |
